SafeRoute Africa is a community safety and intelligence platform that enables users and approved organizations to share, discover, verify, and receive information about safety incidents, movement conditions, emergencies, environmental conditions, and other community-related information. 5. USER-GENERATED CONTENT

  • Photographs;
  • Videos;
  • Audio;
  • Livestreams;
  • Comments;
  • Posts;
  • Profile information;
  • Safety observations;
  • Locations attached to reports;

Information that you publish publicly may be visible to other SafeRoute users and, depending on the feature, may be accessible more broadly. Do not submit personal information about another person unless you have a lawful basis or appropriate authorization to do so.

6. LIVESTREAM DATA

If you use SafeRoute's Go Live feature, we may process:

  • Live video;
  • Live audio;
  • Your account information;
  • Your livestream location where applicable;
  • Technical information associated with the livestream;
  • Moderation and safety signals.

SafeRoute's current Go Live functionality is designed for live broadcasting and does not automatically mean that every livestream is permanently recorded or stored as a replay. However, technical information, moderation records, safety logs, reports, or other information associated with a livestream may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, moderation, legal compliance, or other legitimate purposes.

7. OFFICIAL IDENTIFICATION AND ORGANIZATIONAL VERIFICATION

SafeRoute may offer verification for government agencies, news organizations, emergency organizations, businesses, or other approved institutions. Where verification requires it, we may collect information such as:

  • Government-issued identification;
  • Official organization identification cards;
  • Name and position;
  • Organization name;
  • Organization email;
  • Authorization documents;
  • Organization registration information;
  • Other information reasonably necessary to verify authority.

This information may be used solely or primarily for identity, organizational, security, fraud-prevention, and verification purposes. We will apply appropriate security measures to information used for verification. We will not intentionally publish private identification-document information to ordinary users unless there is a lawful basis and legitimate reason to do so.

When you submit a safety report, we may collect:

  • Video;
  • Audio;
  • Reporter account information;

Reports may be processed by automated systems and/or human moderators for safety, verification, moderation, fraud prevention, and platform integrity.

If SafeRoute introduces a feature that requires access to your device contacts, we will request the relevant permission where required. We will only use contacts for the purpose explained to you when permission is requested. You are not required to grant contact access unless the relevant feature requires it.

12. CAMERA AND MICROPHONE

SafeRoute may request access to your camera and microphone when necessary for features such as:

  • Uploading photographs;
  • Uploading videos;
  • Recording incident reports;
  • Livestreaming;
  • Other audio or video functionality.

Camera and microphone access is subject to your device permissions. SafeRoute will not intentionally access your camera or microphone outside the functionality for which permission has been granted, except where permitted by applicable operating-system functionality and law.

You can manage many notification settings through your device or SafeRoute settings. Some essential service or security communications may still be sent where permitted or required.

SafeRoute may use artificial intelligence and automated systems to assist with:

  • Duplicate detection;
  • Incident verification;
  • Suspicious activity detection;
  • Content moderation;

AI systems may process information associated with reports, content, accounts, locations, and platform activity. AI-generated results may be inaccurate. SafeRoute does not intend for automated systems to replace appropriate human judgment in situations requiring human review. Where applicable law provides rights concerning solely automated decision-making or profiling, users may exercise those rights through the appropriate channels.

Incident reports: may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the safety-intelligence service, maintain incident history, protect users, improve verification, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations. Livestream technical/moderation information: retained only as reasonably necessary for service operation, safety, moderation, security, and legal purposes. Verification documents: retained for the period reasonably necessary to complete verification, maintain verification integrity, address fraud/security issues, and comply with legal obligations. Transaction information: retained as required for accounting, tax, payment, legal, and dispute-resolution purposes. When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we will seek to delete, anonymize, or otherwise securely dispose of it in accordance with our retention practices and applicable law.

21. ACCOUNT DELETION

Users can request deletion of their SafeRoute account through the account-deletion functionality available within the application. When an account is deleted, SafeRoute will seek to delete the account and associated personal information that we are not legally required or otherwise permitted to retain. Depending on the Service and applicable law, this may include deletion or de-identification of:

  • Profile information;
  • Account information;
  • User-generated content;
  • Uploaded media;
  • Associated personal information.

Certain information may need to be retained for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, regulatory, or dispute-resolution purposes. Apple requires apps that allow account creation to provide users with an in-app mechanism to initiate account deletion.

22. YOUR DATA-PROTECTION RIGHTS

Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may have rights including:

  • Right to access your personal information;
  • Right to request correction of inaccurate information;
  • Right to request deletion or erasure;

31. APP STORE PRIVACY DISCLOSURES

For distribution through Apple's App Store, SafeRoute will provide privacy information through App Store Connect describing applicable data collection practices. Apple requires developers to disclose relevant data types collected by the app or third-party partners, including whether information is linked to users and whether it is used for tracking. SafeRoute's App Store privacy disclosures may therefore contain more granular classifications of data than this general Privacy Policy.

Some information you submit may be intended for public or community viewing. For example, an incident report may contain:

If you use Safety Circle or similar functionality, you may provide information about people you choose to include. You are responsible for providing information lawfully and for using such functionality responsibly. Where SafeRoute processes information relating to people you invite, that processing will be handled according to the applicable feature and this Privacy Policy.

When a user reports content or another user, SafeRoute may collect and process information associated with the report. This may include:
